(KWAD) — Jackie Shroyer, wife of missionary Beau Shroyer, who was killed on October 25 while serving in Angola, Africa, has been arrested in connection with his death, Lakes Area Vineyard Church Lead Pastor Troy Easton announced in a statement.

“Our grief and sadness has deepened immeasurably as we’ve learned that Jackie Shroyer has been arrested in connection with her husband Beau’s death,” Pastor Easton stated.

The Shroyers’ five children are reportedly “well cared for,” and Lakes Area Vineyard Church will continue its partnership with SIM USA and SIM Angola, organizations dedicated to missionary work in challenging regions.

“This situation is unimaginable, yet very real,” Easton expressed. “As a community, we must cry out to the Lord for His grace, mercy, and comforting presence for the Shroyer children and family. We must honor God and love each other by how we communicate about this, and stand together, trusting that God can work through even this tragedy.”

Beau Shroyer joined the Detroit Lakes Police Department in 2013 before transitioning to real estate. In 2021, he, Jackie, and their five children moved to Angola to pursue long-term missionary work.
