WADENA-DEER CREEK, Minn.– The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverine girls wrestling team has seen some big growth over the last three years. It took another big step with one of their wrestlers earning a chance to compete at the next level.

WDC senior Faith Koning announced that she is attending Minnesota North College-Itasca this fall. The decision came on Friday, April 12 via a Facebook post. Koning will be a member of the first-ever Vikings’ Women’s Wrestling team!

Minnesota North College’s Itasca campus announced in May of 2023 that it was launching a new women’s wrestling program. Men’s Wrestling head coach Joe Umlauf will also lead the Women’s team.
