Wadena, Minn (KWAD) – Downtown Wadena is getting a fresh new look and flavor with the renovation of the former Little Round Still building. The new owners, Sonny and Lein Nguyen, are transforming the space into Sonny’s Bar & Restaurant, with plans to open this November. The restaurant will offer a fusion menu of Vietnamese and American cuisine, accompanied by a selection of drinks, adding a unique culinary option to the local scene.
The Nguyen family is also expanding the building’s purpose. Upstairs, they plan to remodel the space into a nail salon, providing another new service for the community. As part of the renovation, the large mural that spans the south wall of the building will be preserved.
“We love the mural and want to keep it as part of the building’s character,” Sonny said.
In addition to the new developments, Dave Stormoen, former owner of Little Round Still, shared that the business is still active. Little Round Still is renting space in the lower level of the building, where they continue to distill whiskey, vodka, and rum. With about 300 barrels in storage, production remains ongoing. Stormoen added that the opening of their new distillery location in Alexandria has been delayed, now expected to open later this year.
