‘The Purple Hulls’ Performing In Motley Sunday

Folk

MOTLEY, Minn.– Music fans are in for a show this weekend in Motley.

The Purple Hulls will be performing a concert at the Motley United Methodist Church on Sunday for a musical night of gospel and bluegrass music.

A free will offering show will take place on Sunday, August 28 at 2 p.m. from the church.

The Purple Hills are a Texas bluegrass and gospel band with identical twin sisters Katy Lou and Penny Lea Clark. As musicians of the band, they provide vocal harmonies and great instrumentals. Those attending can hear plenty of guitar, mandolin, and banjo picking. Sunday’s concert in Motley will also feature an acoustic bass player to join The Purple Hulls.

Katy and Penny took their band’s name from the Texas purple hulls peas on the farm where they grew up. The duo performs some high-energy bluegrass, country, and gospel style music with both original music along with cover songs as well. Plenty of musical experience follows the sisters. They have worked in Nashville writing for Sony and doing session work. They have toured with notable western swing band The Quebe Sisters, toured Europe, and opened for the Grammy-winning country music band Asleep at the Wheel.
