VERGAS, Minn.– A suspect has been brought into custody by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department following a burglary to a Vergas business last week.

During the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 27, Billy’s Corner Bar was burglarized. According to .the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, entry was gained into the business by smashing out a front window. When inside the business, security video shows the suspect smashing out a glass showcase containing a 9mm handgun which was set to be raffled off.

Investigators conducted a search warrant of a residence near Vergas on Thursday, March 28 and recovered the stolen handgun and arrested Donald Merrill Jr. for 1st Degree Burglary and felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently in custody.
