Jacob Drevlow Dominates as Sauk Centre Wins Team Title at Johanna Olson Invitational

WADENA, Minn. – Sauk Centre’s Jacob Drevlow delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday at the Johanna Olson Memorial Invitational at Whitetail Run Golf Course in Wadena, cruising to victory with a time of 16:51.215. His impressive run led the way for Sauk Centre, who secured the team title.

Drevlow, a junior, distanced himself from the field early and never looked back, crossing the finish line more than 28 seconds ahead of Ottertail Central’s Peter Newark, who clocked in at 17:19.680 to take second place. Cadyn Vanderwal of Ortonville rounded out the top three, finishing in 17:31.244.

United North Central’s Drew Aho was not far behind, placing fourth with a time of 17:34.131, while West Central Area’s Carter Kjesbo claimed fifth, completing the course in 17:51.350.

Grant Nelson of Wadena-Deer Creek delivered a strong performance for his team, finishing sixth in 17:56.936, closely followed by Sauk Centre’s sophomore standout, Logan Wiehoff, who took seventh with a time of 17:59.362. Ian Mills, a senior from Minnewaska Area, clocked in at 18:03.572 to secure eighth place.

Rounding out the top 10 were Bertha-Hewitt’s Cadyn Vanderwal, who crossed the line in 18:16.698, and Sauk Centre’s Neal Stadsvold, who finished in 18:20.336.

In the team competition, Sauk Centre’s depth proved decisive as they placed five runners in the top 15, amassing a team score of 49 points. Logan Wiehoff, Neal Stadsvold, and Ben Friedrichs (18:50.978, 15th place) played key roles in securing the win for the Mainstreeters.

Park Rapids Area earned the runner-up spot with 80 points, led by freshman Jack Mitteness, who finished 11th with a time of 18:31.435. Their strong team effort was complemented by solid finishes from Thomas Lopez (14th, 18:50.618) and Parker Larson (17th, 19:06.618).

Staples-Motley finished third in the team standings with 140 points, highlighted by senior Logan Robben’s 16th-place finish (19:02.395) and freshman Gage Bjerga’s 18th-place finish (19:07.122).

Wadena-Deer Creek and Melrose Area rounded out the top five in the team standings, scoring 146 and 166 points, respectively. Grant Nelson’s sixth-place finish anchored Wadena-Deer Creek’s effort, while Melrose Area was led by senior Dominic Kerzman, who placed 13th with a time of 18:48.554.
