BERTHA, Minn.– A family in the Bertha area had their home damaged in a fire last weekend. Now, two schools in the Park Region Conference are putting aside their rivalry for one night to help out.

Instead of charging an attendance fee for Thursday night’s girls basketball game between New York Mills and Bertha-Hewitt, a free will donation box will be set up.

All proceeds from the collection will go to the family to help them navigate through the difficult situation.

The New York Mills School Facebook page put out a post Wednesday afternoon to encourage their community to pitch in.

The game will take place in Bertha, the junior varsity game will start at 6 p.m. and the varsity will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
