McDonald’s, freedom, apple pie, bald eagles, are all great American icons but no sport is more American than baseball. Over the 4th of July holiday and through the weekend, local amateur teams took part in the great American game. We have the recap down below.

Bluffton – 4 @ New York Mills – 0

  • Bluffton gets the shutout win on the annual 4th of July game as the Highway 10 rivals split their season series. Independence Day fireworks followed the game.

Dent – 3 @ Henning – 5

Thursday, July 4

Midway – 4 @ Perham – 0

  • Snurdbirds pick up the inter-league win thanks to a combined 1-hitter from the Midway pitching staff on another annual 4th of July game where fireworks also followed the ball game.

Vergas @ Henning – RAINED OUT

Sunday, July 7

Nimrod – 1 @ Bluffton – 11 (8 innings)

  • Bluffton slugs their way to a double-digit win thanks to three home runs from the Braves and 8 innings on the mound from Peyton Rondestvedt.

Clarissa – 9 @ Sebeka – 2

  • Josh Johnson reached base 4 times and drove in 2 runs to help the Flyers get the inter-league win. Kole Weishalla gets the win and Parker Duncan earns a save as the two split duties on the mound for the victory.

New York Mills – 5 @ Henning 1

Staples @ Vergas – RAINED OUT

  • The Shockers and Millers will play as a kick-off to Lund Mania weekend in New York Mills
