Did you know Blake Shelton‘s stepson Apollo‘s a fan of “Texas”? In fact, the song got stuck in his head and it followed him from home to school.

“I got to tell you, our youngest, Apollo, he only started hearing it about three weeks ago. [I was] playing it around to be sure I know it when it comes time to sing it, and he came up to me after school and he goes, ‘You know that new song? That’s really catchy. I’ve been singing it all day at school,'” Blake recalls.

“I was like, ‘That’s good, because we’re putting it out.’ [Apollo went,] ‘Oh good, I think that one’s going to go for you,’ you know?” the singer shares.

Apollo’s not the only one who’s chimed in on Blake’s new music. His superstar wife, Gwen Stefani, also gets the opportunity to, and she doesn’t mince her words when it’s a song she doesn’t like.

“Of course, Gwen [is] always, always aware of anything that I got going on musically. I play her everything before I get going and record it just to get her thoughts on it,” says Blake. “Sometimes she’ll really have a strong opinion and sometimes she’ll go, ‘Man, I don’t know. I don’t know about that one. Maybe, maybe not. Maybe not.'”

“Texas” is now in the top 20 and climbing up the country charts. It’s the lead single and first preview of Blake’s forthcoming new album.

Blake’s six-date Las Vegas residency kicks off Feb. 5 before he hits the road for his Friends & Heroes Tour, beginning Feb. 27 in Lexington, Kentucky.
