MILWAUKEE, Wis.– A Staples-Motley alum makes his return to the sidelines as a coach in the NBA. Dave Joerger will reportedly join the coaching staff of Doc Rivers for the Milwaukee Bucks. Rivers was hired as the head coach in Milwaukee on Jan. 25 following the firing of coach Adrian Griffin after just 43 games.

Joerger had made previous coaching stops around the association, including stints as the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies (2013-17) and the Sacramento Kings (2016-19). Joerger was an assistant coach under Rivers in Philadelphia from 2020-23. This season he was working as a coaching consultant for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The former Cardinal graduated from Staples-Motley in 1991. He played collegiately at Concordia, Moorhead (1992-94) and then at Moorhead State, now known as Minnesota State University-Moorhead (1995-97).
