PERHAM, Minn.– Willow Thiel continues her great senior season with the Perham Yellowjackets girls basketball team. She has already reached 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Now, she earns a national honor for her recent performances on the court.
Thiel was chosen by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and MaxPreps as a National Player of the Week!
Nine girls throughout the US are chosen every week for this honor. Thiel is the second girl from Minnesota to receive the award this season with Maddyn Greenway being the other selection. Through three games last week, Thiel scored 92 points. She also came away with 46 rebounds, including her 1,000th rebound, as well as leading Perham to wins over two state ranked teams.
For the season, she’s averaging nearly 28 points per game and 14 rebounds per game. The Yellowjackets are currently 15-2 on the season with an 8-1 in Section 8AA play and a 6-1 record in the Heart O Lakes Conference. Their next game is Tuesday, January 23 at home against Wadena-Deer Creek.
