Our first Wolverine Player of the Week for the spring sports season is Lyrik Haug!
Lyrik had a great performance up in Bemidji for his first meet of the season. He had a big day in the high jump with his personal record jump of 6’4” to put him in the record book third all-time for WDC in the high jump!
Here’s what WDC Head Track and Field Coach Marc Reynolds had to say about his performance last week,
“Lyrik has been involved with track and field since 5th grade. He has always been interested in high jump and he really came out of his shell last year. He had a solid season in 2021; qualifying for the section meet and finishing the season with a personal record of 5’10”. Lyrik has had a great start to his season picking up huge personal records in the high jump, as well as the 60 and 200 meter dashes. Lyrik is also running on our top 4X200 meter relay team. Lyrik has had an open mind this year when it comes to his events and has his mind on more than just wanting to high jump everyday. This has been a good combination for him to keep the “springs” in his legs and keep him strong and fast throughout the entire season. We are excited to see what he can do this year!!!”
Congrats Lyrik!
