A semi-truck carrying approximately 37 cattle overturned on Tuesday, Oct. 29, around 8 p.m., resulting in the loss of 11 cattle.
According to a press release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Romo Ballin of Wichita, Kansas, was driving a 2007 Kenworth semi-truck with a trailer when he attempted to turn west from County Highway 35 onto 360th Street in Otter Tail County. During the turn, the vehicle tipped over.
The report indicated that seven cattle died in the crash, while an additional four had to be euthanized at the scene. The surviving cattle were removed by a private party.
The driver was uninjured in the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Dent and Vergas fire departments assisted at the scene.
